Bladderwrack is a brown algae from the Fucoid family that can be found in rocky coasts. It owes its name to the presence of gas vesicles in its structure. The active parts of these algae are perennial stems, which contain mucilaginous polysaccharides and minerals. It is a remineralizing species, being iodine the most important mineral that it provides and what gives medicinal meaning to the algae.

Properties

Traditionally, Bladderwrack has been used as a metabolic activator thanks to the presence of iodine (favoring weight loss by increasing the burning of calories). It has also been shown to have satiating effects due to its inhibition of the α-amylase and α-glucosidase. Furthermore, several studies suggest that it has anti-aging effects on the skin, preventing the dermis thinning and increasing its elasticity.

Directions

1 or 2 capsules daily, with a glass of water.

Warnings

Due to its iodine content, it is not recommended to use it either in cases of thyroid illnesses (it may alter TSH levels), menstrual disorders (because it has some estrogenic effect), or lithium treatments (bipolar disorder).

Pregnancy, lactation and under 18 years: It is recommended not to use.
